God is good and his mercy endures forever!
As I sat on the couch the other day watching the sunrise and looking at the mountains, thoughts of anxiety came to me. I put those thoughts where they belonged, had another sip of coffee and relaxed in the peace of God that passes understanding described in Philippians 4:7.
You see, I’m not used to resting as much as I have lately. Resting is actually harder than working for me. I’m used to working hard, both physically and mentally, and I actually wore myself out over the past year in both areas. There are some things that I probably overdid, but I believe I was following the Lord’s leading.
While I was working, I had learned to get into the peace that passes understanding as often as I could. But for me, it takes more self control to get into that peace when I’m waiting on the Lord for answers.
God says in Hebrews 4:11, “Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest”. It takes faith to believe that we can do that. When I put that faith out there, believed God and took hold of His blessing of peace I was able to see His goodness and love as the sun began to shine on the mountains and warm the house.
God is good! Seasons and times change and along with those changes come new challenges and new blessings. In each challenge, we can see God’s goodness and we can walk in the same peace that passes understanding.
